Blended Learning in Austin ISD
The Christensen Institute Links to an external site. defines blended learning as a learning experience that takes place:
- at least in part through online learning, with some element of student control over time, place, path, and/or pace;
- at least in part face-to-face;
- and along each student’s learning path, designed in a way that provides an integrated learning experience.
This type of learning combines best practices of traditional face-to-face learning with the purposeful integration of technology and student voice and choice. In a blended learning environment, students will have access to ongoing collaboration with peers and more immediate feedback opportunities from their teachers.
BLEND offers a safe and secure online learning platform where students can engage in meaningful, teacher-designed learning activities. By offering one point of access for online learning tools, BLEND promises to become a robust archive of learning for our students.
